David Orellana
David Orellana has over 20 years of experience in the energy and utility market in Chile and LATAM, holding managerial positions in local and international corporations. David Orellana is Managing Partner of Aediles Capital Inc and founding member & Platform Head (CEO) of Aediles Talinay a LATAM Chilean based Asset Manager that manages one of Chile's largest renewable distributed generation platform of community solar projects in behalf of BlackRock Global Renewable Power.
Previously David Orellana was the CFO of AELA Energía SpA a platform set forth to become a leading company in the Chilean renewable energy generation market. The renewable energy generation company Aela Energía was founded in June 2013 to deliver a plan to build and operate 600 MW of wind and solar power projects in Chile. The company was owned by ACTIS (60%), a global fund that aims to invest in developing countries, and Mainstream Renewable Power (40%), global developer of renewable energy projects.
At AELA David Orellana was responsible for the implementation of the platform and the structuring of the long-term financing for the construction of 300MW new wind farms and the refinancing of existing 33MW wind farms. Before AELA, David Orellana worked at Transelec S.A., the largest energy transmission company in Chile. At Transelec, David Orellana was responsible for managing the definition, structuring, execution and optimization of all financial activities of the Company. Previous to Transelec, David Orellana worked for GDF Suez (currently Engie) as Senior Manager for Finance, Acquisitions & Investments and Financial Advisory, were he was responsible of supporting and providing financial advice for the development of greenfield, brownfield projects and existing companies throughout Latin America.
David Orellana has broad experience in structuring financing transactions from the client´s side, including over USD 3.0 bln in Project Finance, over USD 3.5 bln in M&A and over USD 3.0 bln in Corporate transactions.
He holds a degree in Business from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; and is fluent in Spanish and English.
